I Thought I Had Nothing to Say… Until I Started Listening

Hi everyone — it’s been a month since my last post, and I wanted to check in, especially now that the semester’s wrapped up. I used to think if I didn’t have big “news” to share, I shouldn’t post. But lately, I’ve realized that progress isn’t always flashy. Sometimes, it’s the quieter lessons that stick the most.

Here are three things I’ve learned since talking more about Ava’s Armour:

1. Everyone Has a Sweat Story

Since sharing my idea for sweat-hiding fashion, I’ve noticed something powerful: almost every woman I’ve spoken with has that story. The one where a sweat stain shook her confidence so much, it became a vivid memory.

Megan, the founder and CSO of Accel Unite (who pioneered reusable odor-free isolation gowns!), and positivity keynote speaker told me a story I haven’t been able to stop thinking about. She remembered wearing a hot pink cotton tank top — and the sweat stains were so obvious that people started laughing. She described it as “traumatic.” Her friend had a similar story, wearing a light teal linen button-down and feeling “petrified.”

It’s not just clothing — it’s how it makes us feel. That’s why Ava’s Armour will persist.

2. People Want to Help — Especially When You’re Authentic

I’m so thankful to Rob, the Vice President of Raw Materials at Victoria’s Secret, for connecting me with Megan. She didn’t just take the time to talk — she offered me more introductions that could be game-changing for Ava’s Armour.

What I’ve learned is this: when you approach people from a genuine, passionate place, they’re usually excited to support you. Networking can feel intimidating, but for me, it’s been life-changing.

In fact, I’m excited to announce that I’ll be joining Atrium Apparel Corporation as their merchandising intern this summer! It all started with a conversation, and now I’m grateful to be learning from a tight-knit, full-service manufacturer like them.

3. It’s Okay to Take a Breath — Even if It’s Out of Routine

When I was pitching Ava’s Armour through the Keenan Center’s competitions, I was in go mode. Deadlines, surveys, flyers, meetings — everything at once. But now that school’s out, I’ve felt myself slow down. And truthfully? I felt a little guilty.

I told myself, “If I’m not making moves, what do I even have to share?”

But I’m learning to shift that mindset. Breaks aren’t failures — they’re chances to recalibrate. I’m still just as driven to make sweat-hiding fashion a reality. But I also want to build this business from a place of clarity and joy, not burnout like where I was coming from in my last blog. You’ve probably heard it before: Where our attention goes, our energy flows — and I want mine focused on positive connections, instead of pressure.

Let’s Keep the Conversation Going

If you’ve made it this far, thank you. Whether you’re finishing up a semester or just checking in from your own path — your support means everything.

I’ve been thinking… maybe it’s time to take these stories further.

I’d love to start a podcast where we talk openly — like Megan did — about the real, specific memories sweat stains have left behind. Or maybe we just vent about what we wish clothing actually did for us. If that sounds like something you’d want to be a part of, have advice about, or just want to listen to — reach out!
